It's the same, only better! Live at Sunset is the new name for a legendary summer concert series that offers a fresh mix of musical styles, while building on the success of its long-running jazz series. Now in its 22nd year, live music on the EcoTarium grounds is a Worcester tradition and one of Central Massachusetts' most popular summer events - thanks to its casual atmosphere, multi-generational appeal, and dynamic range of nationally acclaimed performers and local legends.
This summer, the EcoTarium and WICN Public Radio kick off another spectacular six-show series on June 15. Concerts run weekly on Friday evenings through July 27. Due to the holiday, there will be no concert during the week of July 4th.
June 15 - Dan Gabel and the Abletones, featuring Amanda Carr
Travel back in time with an 18-piece Big Band, led by trombonist Dan Gabel and featuring the elegant vocals of Amanda Carr. Sporting a vintage look and more than 2,000 arrangements, the Abletones are the real deal - a Big Band that looks and sounds just like the 1930s and 1940s.
June 22 - Roomful of Blues
Get ready for a "heel-clicking night of fun" when Roomful of Blues brings their award-winning combination of jump, swing, blues, R&B and soul -- and knack for filling the dance floor -- to the EcoTarium.
June 29 - Lake Street Dive
Blending propulsive grooves, brilliant vocals, and evocative song craft into their own infectious indie-pop sound, this quartet is a joy both to listen to and watch.
July 13 - Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas
No one does traditional Southern Louisiana Creole roots music like these accordion-driven Zydeco masters. Come dance to their fast and furious beats, lively percussion, electric guitars, R&B influences, and trademark Caribbean lilt!
July 20 - James Montgomery Blues Band
When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he "brings it on home." With gritty vocals, sizzling tunes, and energetic shows he is one of the most dynamic performers on the music scene.
July 27 - Bellevue Cadillac
Take a musical road trip from 20's hot jazz to New Orleans R&B up through the swing era of the 30's and 40's to early rock. With "flying trombones, spinning trumpets, and sizzling saxophones," Bellevue Cadillac is jazz, gospel, blues, soul, swing, and rock & roll all wrapped up in one great show.
$18 per person (includes museum admission), $15 for EcoTarium and WICN members. (Special advance ticket pricing when purchasing tickets for 3 different concerts before June 13: $16 per person, $13 for EcoTarium and WICN members.) Free for children under 12. Reserved table seating for up to four people (includes concert and museum admission) is $90 per table, $80 for EcoTarium and WICN members.
