Join pianist Pamela Hines and her special guest musician or band for an hour-long broadcast from WICN's Performance Studio. She'll highlight many of New England's finest jazz musicians as well as major national talent. The show airs at 2pm on the last Wednesday of each month.
FABIANO DE CASTRO (piano), BART WEISMAN (drums), and RON ORMSBY (bass) will be our guest on July 30th at 2pm.
Pianist FABIANO DE CASTRO started in music at age 11 at the State Conservatory of Juiz de Fora and then in CIGAM in Rio de Janeiro. In Juiz de Fora Fabiano worked with some prominent names from the music scene until he created the Pro-Music Trio Jazz and record a live CD in the Pro Jazz Festival in 1999. In the same year he founded the Grupo Scala de Jazz, before moving to New York to study at the Harbor Conservatory, in Harlen, with Robert Blumental. Fabiano participated in workshops at the School for Improvisational Music (SIM) with Ravi Coltrane, Steve Colleman, Vijay Ieyr, Uri Caine, Ralph Alessi, among others. https://myspace.com/fabianodecastro
BART WEISMAN performs with his Jazz Groups, Klezmer Swing Group, Smooth Jazz Group, Brazilian Music Group and the Cape Cod Jazz Quintet on Cape Cod, Massachusetts for Events, Parties, Weddings, Concerts, and Nightclubs. Bart is teaching Drums & Jazz at the Cape Conservatory and he is on the Board of Directors for the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. He also produces concerts year-round at Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth and Cotuit Center for the Arts on Cape Cod. Prior to moving to Cape Cod with his wife, Bart performed in every major venue in Washington, DC. His group featured a number of musicians such as Keter Betts & Rebecca Parris, and as a member of the Air Force Band Diplomats, he performed for Presidents, Heads of State and Celebrities. http://www.bartweisman.com/
RON ORMSBY is a jazz bassist originally from Boston, where he studied at Berklee College of Music. In addition to performing at many of the local Boston jazz clubs, he was a founding member of the Boston Jazz Quartet. This group played extensively throughout the New England area and made two tours through Europe. From 1979 to 1984, he owned and operated The Columns Restaurant, a well-known jazz club on Cape Cod. For twenty years Ron was the bassist and personal manager for jazz pianist Marie Marcus. Ron performed with Marie in jazz clubs from Cape Cod to Miami as well as an appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival. Ron also owns REO Studios on Cape Cod.
