The Bull Run has been a Tavern for centuries and their philosophy is simple: use only the freshest ingredients from area small farms and providers; treat the staff and the talent like gold; support the local events and institutions that truly create community; and bring world-class entertainment to Central Massachusetts.

Dave's role at WICN is Chief Operator. He is the primary point of contact with the FCC for technical matters, and advisor to the station's management and staff with regard to technical operations. His career in broadcasting started in 1967, during his senior year in high school, and he's been in broadcasting ever since.
His primary work is helping public and commercial stations improve their signals by working out engineering solutions such as frequency or antenna changes. Dave worked with WICN in 2012 to improve the reliability of the microwave feed between the studio and the transmitter.
Dave's musical interests are eclectic, but lean towards Jazz, Celtic, Folk, Country, and Classic Rock (1966-1975 - OK, let's call it "Fossil Rock." It's about time...)
He lives in Worcester with his wife, Patty. They are the "parental units" of three grown offspring. Patty and Dave are avid bicyclists and kayakers.
Jon has spent the majority of his "adult" life teaching, writing and arranging music and working in production departments of Boston area broadcasting facilities.
Favorite things: anything journalistic or musical, starting the day before the sun rises and people who are amused by life, not burdened by it.
Astha was born in Nepal but she spent most of her life in boarding schools in India. After earning the Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Delhi University in India and a summer course in Management in London School of Economics in UK, she decided to come to Clark University in Worcester for her MBA in Marketing. During her two years at Clark, she honed her marketing skills not only in class but also in the "real world" as a summer intern at both KPMG Advisory Services and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages in India. When she graduated in May 2010, she was offered an internship at WICN Public Radio as a website and social media intern. As the months passed by she became more and more involved with the station and took on more responsibilities. She eventually took on the role of Membership Coordinator and since then there has been no looking back. You will find her at the station knee deep in working out every little detail of our membership drives, harassing hosts to send information about their shows for our website and social media, chatting with our beloved volunteers, hosts, staff (anybody she can get a hold of), munching on burgers or smelly Indian food in the conference room. Yes, she is everywhere! She loves her job and people she works with – they are her American family now (go Amerimom Kate!). And though she did not grow up listening to Jazz, she is really enjoying learning all about it directly from talented artists and our knowledgeable hosts.
Kate Travaline joined the WICN family in December 2009 as Administrative & Development Coordinator. She works closely with the General Manager in Underwriting development, marketing communications and administrative duties. A graduate of Villanova University with a degree in Theater/English, Kate attended the Lee Strasburg Theater Institute before beginning a career in Marketing Communications at Eastman Radio in New York City. She soon joined an upstart company, Screenvision, Inc. and learned the ins and outs of commercial advertising in the Big Apple. After moving to the Philadelphia area in the late 80’s, Kate worked in the Marketing Department of The PMA Group, working her way from Communications Coordinator to Sr. Writer/Editor. She brought these skills to Fleer/Skybox, Inc. a division of Marvel Comics, where she wrote and edited licensed entertainment cards which led to her appointment as PR Manager of Entertainment. Kate often volunteers in her community, and as the President of the Uxbridge Education Foundation, she raises monies for scholarships and grants within the schools. Kate enjoys spending time with her four children, including twin boys, attending baseball games, watching old movies, writing poetry and gardening.
Kate’s musical tastes tend to be more “Against the Grain,” but she’s loving and learning all about jazz and the public radio experience – every day is an adventure!
