Titan is a very unusual moon of Saturn. It's huge, larger than the planets Pluto or Mercury. Titan also has an active and complex atmosphere, and has physical features that certainly look like a world covered with lakes and rivers. But Titan is certainly not just a colder version of earth, though like earth, it my harbor life. For one thing, those lakes and rivers on Titan aren't filled with water but something truly bizarre. The Cassini spacecraft with the attached Huygens probe arrived at Saturn in the summer of 2004 to more closely study Titan and even attempt a soft landing. On Inquiry tonight, we talk to one of the engineers and scientists involved with this mission: RALPH LORENZ, planetary scientist at the John Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. His book, which describes what has been discovered on this distant very alien very strange world, is titled TITAN UNVEILED: SATURN’S MYSTERIOUS MOON EXPOSED.
