Jake is a novelist who faces his marital crisis by daydreaming about the women in his life: a revered first wife who was killed in an accident; his daughter as a child and as a young woman; his bossy sister; an opinionated analyst; his current wife who is leaving Jake for another man; and a prospective third wife. The wildly comic and sometimes moving flashbacks played in his mind are only interrupted by visits from the actual women. Directed by Faye Harrington.

7pm Bryant Park Quartet - Based in New York City, the Bryant Park Quartet (Anna Elashvili, Ben Russell - violins; Adam Meyer - viola; Tomoko Fujita - cello) performs the spectrum of the string quartet repertoire to a diverse audience with captivating elegance and unique energetic style. As the first Ensemble-In-Residence at the Stony Brook University Community Music Program, the BPQ have spearheaded a new initiative to bring a high level of chamber music to Stony Brook's students and community. Recipient of a 2008 Chamber Music America Residency Partnership grant, the BPQ is engaged in generating excitement for music in schools and communities across the country. The reading starts around 6:00 p.m. with an open poetry reading. The featured poet or a poetry slam follows the open poetry reading. There is no cover charge at this weekly reading. A bucket pass for donations goes to the featured poet or to support the expenses of the reading.

This week we welcome sometimes regular Gary Hoare to our stage. Gary Hoare currently lives in Boston where he writes, performs spoken-word poetry, and paints. Hoare has been performing poetry since 1998, competing in the National Poetry Slam for teams from Worcester, MA and Providence, RI. He is a winner of the 2005 Jacob Knight Award for poetry, and is the author of several chapbooks including The Theory of Cows, Fallback Crush and Awkward is Hot. In 2002 he published Fact, Fiction, and Blatant Lies, a journal-style novel which chronicled a year

Jeff Blaney  plays the guitar and mandolin and has been writing, recording and performing music for inspired audiences since the age of fifteen. Willie Larsen has a long musical background in many areas such as acting, singing, songwriting, finger-picking guitar as well as square dance calling and teaching. Since the early 1970's when in high school in East Haven, CT, Willie has been traveling throughout New England, upstate New York and New Jersey - calling dances and singing and playing guitar when ever he has the chance.

In the Starlight Jams, participants can play on any tune at any time after the opening house band set. The host band will call tunes, keys or tempos. Players: be prepared to read and solo on an unfamiliar jazz chart with facility.
