Starchild--our house jazz quartet with a fresh approach to standards

Williamson returns to the "Home of the Blues" to once again jam it up. This time it's a jazz and blues session on Thursday nights with his new band, The Midnight Creeps, featuring guitarist Slim Tim Gruntman, bassist Phil Joinville and drummer Randy Harris.

The group intends to travel the mutual landscape between jazz and blues – performing jazz compositions by the likes of Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane, as well as delivering the blues standards by Little Walter, Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon.

Musicians, music lovers & dancers of all ages, all levels are welcome! Full band equipment lineup including Drums, Amps, 16 Channel PA, Grand Piano and Hammond Organ w/Leslie Cabs: just bring your self & your instrument!

Ken Schaphorst directs the NEC Jazz Orchestra in the performance of music by Charles Mingus. Program will include many of Mingus's most beloved compositions, including Boogie Stop Shuffle, Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, Sue's Changes, Children's Hour of Dream, and The Shoes of the Fisherman's Wife are Some Jive-Ass Slippers.

The NEC Jazz Orchestra was named Best College Big Band in the 2004 Downbeat Student Music Awards, and performs original music and traditional big band repertoire under the direction of Ken Schaphorst and guest artists.
