This year offers a new twist as we celebrate the International Year of the Organ with "Waffles and Widor at Wesley." Brett Maguire, the new Director of Music Ministries at Wesley, will be playing all ten of the organ symphonies of Charles-Marie Widor, one symphony per month, with an inexpensive noontime waffle brunch preceding the 12:30 p.m. concert.

While Widor (1844-1937) is best known for the Toccata from his fifth symphony, his symphonies contain many other treasures and they remain some of the most idiosyncratic works ever written for the instrument. Hearing them all in sequence offers a unique opportunity to experience his development as one of the greatest composers for the organ.

The Pipes Alive! organ concert series is part of the Music Alive! season. Offered by Wesley United Methodist Church as "our gift to the City," all concerts are free and open to the public.
