Saturday, May 10, 2008 - 7:15pm

Presented by the Oscar Micheax Repertory Theater Program.

The play is written by celebrated author (Coota and the Magic Quilt and Coota and the Challenge) and community activist HAYWOOD FENNELL, SR., who was recently featured on CNN. The show focuses on the Harlem Renaissance Era.

Fennell is quick to explain while most people think that Harlem, New York was the only location for this social and artistic phenomenon known as the Harlem Renaissance, it was happening in several cities across the United States, including Boston.

This extravaganza features music and dance spanning from African Tradition, to Gospel, Jazz, and a touch of Hip-Hop.

The New Black Eagles Jazz Band

Thursday, May 8, 2008 - 7:30pm

The New Black Eagle Jazz Band , now in it's 36th year, plays traditional jazz. This style, as performed by the Black Eagles, covers a wide range from the early New Orleans style; Chicago of the 1920's; 1930's small band jazz; the revival of the 1940's and 1950's; and original pieces written by a number of band members.

Their repertoire of over 600 numbers includes Rags by such as Scott Joplin, arranged for the band; spirituals and gospel music; old pop tunes from the start of the 20th century to the 1960's; and blues.

While the band doesn't usually make big features of vocal numbers they do have three good vocalists with a broad repertoire whose vocals are always well received by audiences.

Stanley Jordan Trio

Thursday, May 8, 2008 - 8:00pm

Featuring Charnett Moffett & David Haynes.

One way to attack the daunting task of describing Stanley Jordan is to think of him as a world class guitarist who marches in all aspects of his life to the beat of his own drummer. Never one to be locked into constraints when it comes to musical expression, genres or applications, the Palo Alto, California-born prodigy is a progressive thinker with goals and ideals that stretch far beyond record deals, fortune or fame.
