With its heart-wrenching harmonies, poignant lyrics, and rooted Americana sound, this talented Boston-based quartet has quickly won over audiences across New England. The David Wax Museum’s exuberant Mexo-Americana songs bring audiences to their feet with Latin rhythms, call-and-response hollering, and donkey jawbone rattling.
“The Boston-based quintet melds traditional American-folk sensibilities with spicy Mexican heat, creating a singular style they’ve dubbed ‘Mexo-Americana.’ And it seems to be taking.”- Seven Days, Burlington, VT http://www.davidwaxmuseum.com

HT Productions will present “An Evening With The Manhattan Transfer” celebrating their 40 years together and their new CD, The Chick Corea Songbook.
The Manhattan Transfer is Cheryl Bentyne, vocals; Tim Hauser, vocals; Alan Paul, vocals and Janis Siegel, vocals. The Transfer will perform with their quartet featuring keyboardist and music director Yaron Gershovsky, bassist Gary Wicks, drummer Steve Hass and guitar Adam Hawley. The group remains a major staple both within the jazz community and the mainstream music community, as they continue to enlighten listeners by bringing different genres of music to the forefront of the jazz.
The Chick Corea Songbook, which marks the highly innovative vocal quartet’s first new record in five years, was inspired by the classic work of jazz great Chick Corea, and features fresh and exciting vocal interpretations of many of his popular compositions, including “Spain” and “500 Miles High.” Corea, who plays on the CD, has also contributed an original composition entitled “Free Samba” especially for this album. This release also features special guest appearances by some of the finest musicians in the industry including Christian McBride, Airto, Alex Acuña, Fred Hersch, Edsel Gomez and Lou Marini, among others.
Tickets at $48 and $38 will be on sale as of Friday, January 29 at all Ticketmaster outlets, at the Wilbur Theatre Box Office, on line at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling: 800-745-3000. For more information, call: 617-248-9700. The Wilbur Theatre is wheelchair accessible.
In celebration of their new CD release as well as 40 years in the entertainment industry, Manhattan Transfer is touring throughout 2009—2010 (with more dates to come). For more information, please visit www.manhattantransfer.net.
