Submitted by edshepherd on Mon, 02/01/2010 - 12:02pm.
Lisa Marie fronts a 4-piece band and they are making their first appearance at the Sherborn Inn. She has been captivating audiences all over the Northeast, as she runs the gamut of musical genres: R&B, rock, funk, swing, blues, folk, gospel, country, rockabilly, pop, soul and jazz. "With her range and powerful vocal delivery she can belt out a searing soul tune and then surprise you with sweet accappella. A true entertainer and performer, her presence on stage draws the audience right in. Cabasa or tambourine in hand, Lisa Marie bounces into the crowd, dancing with fans and emanating an infectious energy."
She created the All Shook Up platform to create an opportunity for audiences to see different musicians, and for her players, who include many female musicians, to make new acquaintances. All Shook Up is Sizzlin' R&B and red-hot blues, with a whole lotta soul.

Submitted by edshepherd on Sat, 01/30/2010 - 12:35pm.
As an artist, singer, and songwriter, Robinella is a talented soul whose music is intertwined with her life. She’s a Tennessee native who shares her roots with us through her mix of bluegrass and jazz music. Robinella performs “with repetition, with a country song, with a smile, with a jazzy phrase [she] heard in a movie, with some fancy chords a man showed how to play. With some truth. With some lies.” http://www.myspace.com/robinella1
Once Bess Rogers moved to Brooklyn and became a regular in the New York scene, she began playing at The Knitting Factory, The Living Room, Pianos, and Southpaw, to name a few. In addition to her solo work, Bess plays guitar for such up-and-coming artists as Jenny Owen Youngs and Ingrid Michaelson, and is a member of synth/pop band, The Age of Rockets. Her CD Release will prove that this is just the beginning for this talented artist. http://www.bessrogers.com/index.html

Alexei Kornienko, Conductor Alexander Sinchuk, Piano and Julian Schwartz, Cello
The Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra is regularly heard throughout Russia on radio, television and film. Under the skilled musical direction of Alexei Kornienko, the Orchestra plays with “boldly articulated bravura” according to the Los Angeles Times. Maestro Kornienko’s musical drive is rooted in a strong sense of loyalty to the composer’s intentions within the score as well as in a modern responsibility to interpret and demonstrate his individuality. This dedication results in the composer’s vision lingering long after the Orchestra’s expressive, beautifully-toned performance.
The Jorgensen program will include the Tsar’s Bride Overture and Scheherazade Symphonic Suite for Orchestra, Op. 35, by Rimsky-Korsakov; Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43, by Rachmaninov, featuring pianist Alexander Sinchuk, First Prize Winner of the 2009 Rachmaninov International Piano Competition; and Tchaikovsky‘s Variations on a Rococo Theme in A major for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 33, with noted cellist Julian Schwarz.
Regular tickets are $33, $37, and $40, with some discounts available. For tickets and information, call the Box Office at 860.486.4226 or order online at jorgensen.uconn.edu. Enjoy convenient, free parking across the street in the North Garage.
