Event Date:
Thursday, November 8, 2012 - 6:00pm

Please join us for a fun evening of wine tasting, winery tour and traditional Irish music hosted by the Board of the Healing Garden and the Nashoba Valley Winery ~ 100 Wattaquadock Hill Rd. ~ Bolton, MA 01740

Laurel Martin (fiddle) and Kathleen Guilday (harp) weave together a lovely mix of Irish traditional dance tunes and elegant airs.Inspired by the old masters of traditional Irish fiddle music, fiddler Laurel Martin plays with a lyrical style that is reminiscent of the music of County Clare and East Galway. She studied the regional fiddle styles of Ireland with Master fiddler Séamus Connolly in the early 1990s under a Traditional Arts Apprenticeship grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. She is a frequent performer at concerts and sessions throughout New England, and has performed in concerts and festivals throughout the United States and abroad. A devoted teacher of Irish traditional music, Laurel served on the faculty of the Boston College Irish Studies program as an instructor of Irish fiddle from 1994 until 2007. She has also directed the Wellesley College “Fiddleheads” ensemble, and currently teaches at Indian Hill Music School in Littleton MA. An All-Ireland harp champion, Kathleen Guilday studied traditional style and repertoire in Ireland with Noreen O'Donoghue and Máire Ní Chathasaigh and has been performing for more than thirty years, both as a soloist and as a member of various Boston area groups. Kathleen has appeared at Boston's Symphony Hall with The Chieftains and entertained President and Mrs. Clinton and Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern at the White House on St. Patrick's Day 2000.
