Rapidly rising star jazz pianist Yoko Miwa and Boston’s “First Lady of Jazz” vocalist Rebecca Parris come together for an unforgettable evening of music.
The Yoko Miwa Trio is on a roll—the group was voted the 2012 Best Jazz Act by the Boston Phoenix, debuted their fifth CD Act Naturally in Japan, and played at the first annual Rockport Music Jazz Festival. Yoko has played sold-out shows in Boston and New York City, and she was chosen to play a special concert, Marian McPartland & Friends, at Dizzy’s at Lincoln Center as part of The Coca-Cola Generations in Jazz Festival.
“Yoko Miwa swings from both sides of the piano, and is blessed with a left hand that lends itself to a fully developed playing style that is reminiscent of early stride masters…” - Jazz Music
“Yoko Miwa displays unpretentious melodies, elegant phrasing, and the lyrical sensibility of a jazz poet.” - Jazziz Magazine
Known as the “First Lady of Boston Jazz,” vocalist Rebecca Parris has reached legendary status in the New England jazz scene. She has performed with jazz greats like Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, and Woody Herman, and is nine-time winner of the Boston Music Awards.
