It's no wonder Karrin Allyson spends so much time on the road, wowing audiences across the United States and around the world. When she sings, it's an intimate experience, as if it's just you and her. Allyson is so comfortable with the material that it always sounds spontaneous, like she's playing, having fun. And when she graces a ballad, her voice massages the melody, like an invitation to come closer and hear a secret.
Allyson built her career performing across a spectrum of genres--the Great American Songbook, bossa nova, blues and bebop. Four of her 13 albums have been nominated for Grammy Awards, including her most recent, 'Round Midnight. For Allyson, it's always about the music, and the great appeal of her performance is its honesty, vulnerability and genuineness.
Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times, said of Allyson: "She's been described as a 'musician's musician,' and for once the overused term actually makes sense--one of the jazz world's finest."
