The world famous Black Eagles, celebrating their 42nd year, capture the spirit and energy of classical jazz - from rags and blues to familiar pop tunes and early swing - music made famous by such jazz greats as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. In the words of the N.Y. Times' music critic John Wilson, "the Black Eagles are so far ahead of other traditional bands...there is scarcely any basis for comparison." It promises to be a high-powered and joyful evening.
The seven piece, Boston-based, Grammy-nominated New Black Eagle Jazz Band performs regularly in New England as well as throughout the U.S. and abroad. Concerts this year take them to Pennsylvania, Colorado and California. The band plays for festivals as well as for private parties, has recorded more than 30 albums, appeared recently at the Newport Jazz Festival, and has been featured with the Boston Pops, Baltimore Symphony and Scottish National Orchestras.
