Mediterranean Crossing with the Moira Lo Bianco Trio and Kinan Azmeh

Event Date:
Wednesday, July 10, 2013 - 9:00pm

Imagine yourself seaside at a quaint café overlooking the Mediterranean – cappuccino in hand, sun setting on the horizon, and the mellow music of an expert pianist dancing all around you. On July 10, the Moira Lo Bianco Trio and special guest Kinan Azmeh will set a similar scene for World Wednesday at Ryles.

Italian-born pianist and composer Moira Lo Bianco and her trio, featuring Bruno Raberg on double bass and Guiseppe Paradiso on drums, will share the stage for the first time with Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh to bring music from both sides of the Mediterranean. Playing in duo, trio and quartet, they will present pieces from Lo Bianco’s newly-released album Lunaria, original compositions by Azmeh, and never-before-heard collaborations honoring the spirit of cross-cultural exchange in light of Syria’s ongoing human rights crisis.

Tickets: $10pp, students $5
