1st Person, Plural - the art of storytelling
This series gives accomplished storytellers who've honed their craft at the story slams a chance to stretch out and tell more elaborate stories. We also intend to mix things up in the performance community by bringing in talented out-of-town tellers, and including one performer who's not a storyteller - like a writer, a musician or a comedian.
Co-producer, Norah Dooley said, "The art of storytelling goes deep and wide into our human imaginations. The 5 minute slam stories are but a gateway 'drug'. And we aim to addict for life."
The program gives audiences and artists a better chance to mingle and get new ideas and new exposure. "The variety can be electrifying," says host and co-curator H.R. Britton, who for two years hosted "Lower East Side Stories" at the Tenement Museum in New York. "The inaugural season played to an enthusiastic audience," says Britton.
Host and Co-producer: H.R. Britton has been telling stories since 1993. In 2010-11 he co-hosted massmouth's J.P. Story Slam season.
