Becca Stevens Band / Julia Easterlin
The Red Room
Hailed by the New York Times as “a vocalist and guitarist who balances deep melody against lyrical caprice,” Becca Stevens draws upon elements of pop, jazz, and traditional Appalachian folk from her native North Carolina to craft exquisitely understated compositions that defy categorization. Fluent in both jazz and classical guitar, Stevens’s seamless arrangements embrace inventive acoustic textures and idiosyncratic melodic elements, communicated with immense warmth and effortless urgency through her intimate vocals. All About Jazz says of Stevens’s latest release, Weightless: “Her organic style is exciting and innovative, made even more so by her groundbreaking singing.” Stevens counts some elite musicians amongst her fans and collaborators, including brad Mehldau, Kurt Elling, and Esperanza Spalding, proving this “best-kept secret” (New York Times) is a secret no more.
Berklee alumna Julia Easterlin is a vocalist and loop artist wielding composition, production, and performance in one fell swoop. One part siren and one part technologist, she uses looping hardware to build a one-woman chorus live on stage. This rare sound has driven Easterlin to recent performance at Lollapalooza, SXSW, MIDEM, CMJ, and the TEDxWomen Conference.
