Cabaret - Feature: Karen Mulvey; Pianist: Tom LaMark; Host: Leslie Holmes
Karen E. Mulvey made her cabaret debut in April as part of BACA's CabaretFest with her new show, ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE: the Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner . She's thrilled to return to the stage doing what she loves most: telling stories through music.
Karen began singing at age eight and held a variety of roles throughout her school career. Performance highlights include: the title role in ANNIE, Patricia in CRAZY FOR YOU, Rizzo in GREASE, and a solo act "Storybook." After college, Karen sang with local groups including New England Light Opera and Reagle Music Theatre before deciding to focus primarily on cabaret work.
Though classically trained, her true interest lies in show tunes, jazz and adult contemporary music. Karen joined BACA last fall where she has found new joy and new friends in the cabaret community. She studies voice south of Boston where she lives with her husband, Andrew, and their dogs, Ella and Dizzy.
