For over a decade, the Ottawa-based Souljazz Orchestra has been bridging the gap between funk and Afrobeat. The band delivers its signature horn-drenched melodies driven by a percussive explosion of soul, jazz, Latin and Caribbean rhythms, along with primitive keyboard. With lyrics touching on politics and spirituality, the multicultural collective will release its new collaborative recording, Solidarity, this September. Zongo Junction will open.
