From The Center: Creating Mandalas
Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle. The form of the mandala is a circular design with a center point. They can be found in the sacred art of many cultures including Hindu, Buddhist, Native American and Christian. In psychology in the West, mandala is seen as a metaphor for self.
We will have fun choosing our own shapes, colors and patterns to create mandalas using pen, markers, colored pencils or collage. The process helps you to be present in the moment and to let your spirit guide you. Your design can represent your current state of mind or a deeply felt wish or intention for yourself, a loved one, or the world. It will be possible to finish your mandala in a tile form which makes a lovely gift.
Karen Beaver,BFA will be the facilitator for this class.
