''Chazz'' The Charles Licata Ensemble featuring Bob Moses and Marissa Licata
Chazz is Jazz but what is Jazz and what is Chazz. Jazz is the rhythm of life, something that we live but don't or can''t explain. Chazz offers you the answer to your questions for the music is a heritage and projection of Jazz's face. There is no piano in this group, but there are two basses. There is no Charlie Parker but there is Charlie Licata. There isn't a "Duke" or " Monk" or "Fats" or "Ornette" composition but there are songs that tell us all about these people. It is said when good music stops you can hear there is something missing. When Chazz finishes his set the silence will surround you. You will need more. You will need more. Chazz is Jazz.
Licata's daughter Marissa is a virtuoso violinist. When she herself entered NEC, an incredible stretch of musical energy re emerged, as Licata's tunes and playing reached the ears of Gary Peacock, and Rufus Reid. What has happened is rather startling for as he has grown older his Musical concepts intensified to the point of being a major figure in the Jazz world. His compositions, while being somewhat unique, have a passion that even the passing listener understands and his Alto Saxophone playing is quite remarkable. Chazz
