Claudia Schmidt plays a concert in celebration of her new album Bend in the River: Collected Songs. Featuring 16 spectacular tracks from her five Red House recordings, this collection showcases her incredible vocal range and versatility as a songwriter, perfectly blending folk, blues and jazz. It includes special guest appearances by members of JJ Farley & the Original Soul Stirrers, Beausoleil, Violent Femmes and Tom Waits’ band.
Almost four decades as a touring professional have found her traversing North America as well as Europe in venues ranging from intimate clubs to 4,000 seat theatres, and festival stages in front of 25,000 rapt listeners. She has recorded fourteen albums of mostly original songs, exploring folk, blues, and jazz idioms featuring her acclaimed 12-string guitar and mountain dulcimer playing.
Sally Rogers is: a nationally renowned singer-songwriter and recording artist with numerous awards for her work which includes fourteen recordings and a music video; a folk musician and songwriter whose songs have been published in hymnals and national school music textbooks; a composer of folk operas and cantatas, as well as the writer of a children’s picture book published by E.P. Dutton; a devoted public school educator, college professor and presenter at national education conferences and quiltmaker and budding artist
