Funeral Suits / Mals Totem
Funeral Suits is a four-piece alternative band from Ireland consisting of Brian James, Mik McKeogh, Greg McCarthy, and Dar Grant. Its music is expansive without being overblown, heavy without being menacing, and all the more thrilling for its restraint. A shared love for epic, distorted guitars, blistering harmonious pop, art rock, and electronica has led the band to spend the best part of two years holed up in a disused office space in the depths of North County Dublin. Throughout writing and rehearsing they ventured out to play as special guests for Franz Ferdinand, Passion Pit, the Maccabees, and Local Natives. Funeral Suits has recorded its debut album Lily of the Valley with acclaimed producer Stephen Street (Blur, the Smiths), which is due for release on Model Citizen records on June 1 in Ireland and June 4 everywhere else. Its stunning video for the recent single "All Those Friendly People" has nearly reached two million views on YouTube. Meanwhile over in America, "Colour Fade" is currently one of the most added tracks on the vast and influential U.S. college radio network.
Mals Totem is a rock band from Boston. In 2012, it was featured on WZLX’s year in favorites playlist, and on WFNX FM. George Massenburg (audio engineer for Journey, Herbie Hancock, James Taylor) called Mals Totem, “an authentic path to getting big sound. No trickery and no fakery.” It has mastered the wave of volume that comes with good rock music.
