Grace Van't Hof band & The Laura Grill Band CD Release
Grace Van't Hof studied classical violin and piano at a young age until she discovered the banjo in high school when she built a 5-string prototype that won 2nd place in a statewide Science Olympiad. Inspired by artists from the Louvin Brothers to Puccini, Grace's musical career has taken her throughout the United States and Europe. She has performed in venues from the Merlefest Midnight Jam and the Grey Fox Mainstage, to the International Folkdance Festival in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
In addition to visiting scores of fabulous locales, Grace has had the opportunity to share the stage with an impressive array of artists including Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Tony Trischka, Chris Thile and the Punch Brothers, McAlister Drive, Della Mae, and many more. quoobiecreative.com
In the company of Crooked Still, Joy Kills Sorrow and Sarah Jarosz LauraGrill found her voice at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Amongst the crowd of conservatory musicians Laura assembled her eclectic band of Tucker Antell (Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone), Matt Consul (Viola, Violin, Mandolin) and Brad Barrett (Bass, Cello).
Although clearly infused with Jazz and Classical sensibilities the Laura Grill Band sound is undeniably folk. Reflective lyrics are combined with tastes of chamber music, improvisation and four part harmonies to create a sound that is un-catalogued. “Never Before,” the debut album from the Laura Grill Band, was released to much acclaim on June 23rd. The collection of intimate songs was recorded one-hundred percent live in a picturesque snowy cabin in New Hampshire. lauragrillband.com
