Ingrid Jensen Quintet
Trumpeter, Ingrid Jensen once stated "I’m a fan of people who really go for it and are really honest when it comes to playing and are not trying to be someone else.” Ingrid might as well have been speaking about herself and her music: unique, original and uncompromising.
Ingrid will be performing with her sister, saxophonist Christine Jensen who will make the trip from Montreal to join bassist Matt Clohesy, drummer Jon Wikan and either Ben Monder (guitar) or Gary Versace (piano).
Ingrid says she “will always play music that has the heart of Basie, the spirit of Louis and the effervescence of Clark Terry...But at the same time, I will continue to play in odd meters and experiment with electronics. It’s part of what I hear now and it’s part of society.”
Ingrid is a featured trumpet soloist in Maria Schneider’s Grammy Winning ensemble, has won a Juno Award and frequent appearances in the Downbeat Critic’s polls.
“...speaks with an original trumpet voice that adheres to the concept of musical accuracy while invoking creative sparks to weave all the pieces together naturally.” All About Jazz – online jazz magazine
