Jimmy Smith ruled the Hammond organ in the 1950s and 1960s. He revolutionized the instrument and popularized it in the process, turning the fusion of R & B, blues, gospel, and jazz into a jubilant, attractive sound. He found his perfect foil in the fluid guitar lines of Wes Montgomery, one of the greatest and most influential jazz guitarists ever.

Here, organist-without-peer Joey DeFrancesco teams up with the prolific and iconic guitarist Larry Coryell and the legendary drummer of Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue sessions Jimmy Cobb, to pay tribute to the Smith-Montgomery body of work.
