NEC CI 40th Free Music Night at the Lily Pad is part of a year-long series of concerts and events in Boston and New York City celebrating the 40th anniversary of New England Conservatory's groundbreaking Contemporary Improvisation department. Founded by musical visionaries Gunther Schuller and Ran Blake and now headed by renowned multi-instrumentalist/composer/producer Hankus Netsky, the program trains creative musicians to broaden their musical palettes and develop unique voices as composers, performers and improvisers.

With its legacy of innovation, its wide range of performance opportunities, and its commitment to musical excellence, NEC is the perfect home for Contemporary Improvisation
