RSL Presents: Steven Roth / Lily & The Parlour Tricks / The Okay Win
There’s a reason Steven Roth has had the honor of opening for legends such as Robert Plant and Roger Daltrey. It’s this same reason why Roth’s following is swelling atypically fast and his recent L.A. shows have been packed to ‘sweaty capacity’. Perhaps it’s also why Counting Crows frontman, Adam Duritz, chose Roth from over 3,500 artists to perform at his own personal SXSW showcase. Roth will be the first artist to perform at Duritz, and for music blogger Ryan Spaulding’s ‘Outlaw Roadshow’ at Rusty’s in Downtown Austin. Roth is a rare breed in entertainment.
Lily & The Parlour Tricks are the perfect combo of pretty and gritty. “The band has a mysterious depth that holds audiences transfixed through their salty and sweet set." - The Wild Magazine. The Tricks' 2011 EP was recorded live to tape at the legendary Daptone Studios in Brooklyn, and they are currently hard at work on a follow-up album, recorded at The Magic Shop in SoHo. With their soaring harmonies, raucous attitude and "deadly sex appeal" - Aesthetes Anonymous, this group keeps their audience dancing and howling for more.
The Okay Win is a Boston-based band that has consistently grown since it began playing shows in 2009. In that span, they have released 4 albums and performed at a rapid pace around the northeast. They have shared the stage with such acts as Kevin Devine, Portugal. the Man, Colour Revolt, and many more. In 2012, the group performed at the House of Blues, while also being featured in the Boston Phoenix's Best Music Poll issue as one of the 7 bands to look out for. They also released their latest effort, entitled Leveled, which was decidedly their most cohesive and realized piece to date.
Admission: $10 in advance, $12 day of show, general admission.
