Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds (Sawtelle Room)

Event Date:
Friday, December 16, 2011 - 8:00pm
This will be the CD release party for Savoy's 50th release, "Voodoo Moon". One of the earliest of British blues bands, Savoy Brown (with founder guitarist Kim Simmonds at the helm) helped launch the UK blues/rock movement that paved the way for such acts as Led Zeppelin. In 1969 Kim jammed onstage in London with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Burdon. Savoy Brown have released 35 albums. Ex-members of Savoy Brown have also been members of other rock & blues acts like Fleetwood Mac, Robert Cray Band, Black Sabbath, Humble Pie, U.F.O., Chicken Shack, Ten Years After & Foghat. Kim was recently inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk of Fame. The current line-up is David Malachowski, Gerry Sorrentino, Mario Staiano and is led as always by Kim Simmonds. With more than 3 decades behind them, they continue to be a powerful and important blues/rock/boogie act for the new millenium. Their newest release, "Too Much Of A Good Thing: The SAVOY BROWN Collection 1992 - 2007" is not so much a "best of " CD, but a compilation of favorites from the last 15 years of Savoy Brown recordings. More info: "Make no mistake about it: Simmonds isn't just up on his game, he gets better and better with age."---Michael Lisi - Gazette Reporter For tickets go to:
