Live Concerts

Special Show: Don White & Christine Lavin

Event Date:
Sunday, November 6, 2011 - 7:00pm

Christine Lavin is a singer/songwriter guitarist/recording artist living in New York. She has recorded 20 solo albums. She has also produced nine compilation CDs showcasing the work of dozens of songwriters whose work she loves -- one of them, the food-themed One Meat Ball, includes a 96-page cookbook that Christine edited.

If you laugh and cry within the same ten minutes, you either need a vacation or you are sitting in the audience at a Don White show. This working class family man from Lynn, Massachusetts has emerged as the thoughtful songwriter of the decade whose relevance to our lives is evidenced by the powerful reaction he evokes at every concert.

“I have laughed as hard at Don and Christine as I have at any comedians I have seen on stage, but I have never heard either of them tell a mean, scornful, or bitter joke. Always, their humor is fueled by the same empathy, kindness and universality that fuels their songwriting. Always, they look for the lyric, the poetic image, the gag, that reminds us what we share, not what sets us apart. Both their music and comedy is driven by a desire to tell the truth about the lives they live, and to find where those lives intersect with ours.” - Scott Alrick
