Stanley Sagov and the Remembering the Future Jazz Band
Celebrate Thanksgiving Weekend with a night of hot and cool jazz featuring keyboardist Dr. Stanley Sagov and his Remembering the Future Jazz Band with John Lockwood on acoustic bass, Bob Gullotti on drums, Robert Douglas Gay on alto sax, Mike Peipman on trumpet, Stan Strickland on sax, flute and vocals and Special Guest vocalist, Wannetta Jackson.
The Cape Town-born full-time medical doctor Stanley Sagov has made quite a name for himself in the music world over the last few years with his sellout Regattabar shows becoming semiannual occasions for jazz fans, friends and medical colleagues to all come together, in one happy evening of jazz and convivial celebration.
Last winter, the band was featured live on "Eric In The Evening" on WGBH FM. A video of this performance can be seen below.
Sagov says, "Jazz is a sexy mix of head and heart, a beautiful fusion of Africa and Europe. It’s America's greatest contribution to world culture and a bittersweet celebration of the aspiration to be free. We play and record our music to paint a picture of a world in which everything counts and everybody is heard and expressed, right now, from the past and impelled by the momentum of our mutual interaction into the future."
