Terence Blanchard is an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, arranger, and film score composer. Since he emerged on the scene in 1980 with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra and then shortly thereafter with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Blanchard has been a leading artist in jazz. He was an integral figure in the 1980s jazz resurgence, recording several award-winning albums and performing with the jazz elite.
One of the most celebrated trumpeter-composers on today's landscape, Blanchard has recorded more than 30 albums and won multiple Grammys. He's also an acclaimed bandleader and scorer of TV and movie soundtracks, including Red Tails and the documentary When the Levees Broke.
