Vermont Jazz Center presents Gregoire Maret Quartet
Saturday, January 19, 2013 - 8:00pm
Called “one of the most creative musicians around” by Herbie Hancock, it is no surprise that this chromatic harmonica virtuoso (and member of the Pat Metheny group) has changed everyone’s concept of the instrument. No question about it, Maret is a rising star! Singer Cassandra Wilson sings Maret’s praises better than anyone: “I am a witness to this: wherever Grégoire Maret stands, whenever he lifts his instrument to his lips, the room and all its inhabitants are immediately transformed, we are transported with a sweet yet powerful intensity to a higher plane.” Maret is a chromatic harmonica virtuoso, who is often compared to legends Toots Thielemans and Stevie Wonder. He has worked with an incredible list of musicians including Youssn’Dour, Me' Shell Ndegeocello, David Sanborn, George Benson, Cassandra Wilson, Herbie Hancock and Sting.
