EVENT: UMass Amherst Wind Ensemble concert, including the winning work of the Wind Ensemble’s 2013 Composition Competition

TIME & LOCATION: 4pm, Fine Arts Center Concert Hall

COMPOSITION COMPETITION WINNER: Javier Marquez, winner of the 2013 UMass Wind Ensemble Composition Contest, is a Master’s Degree student in the Department of Music & Dance. His winning work, Danza Hipnotica, will be premiered at the concert.

CONCERT REPERTOIRE: Uprising, written for drum set & wind ensemble, is a work by Guest Composer-in-Residence Jennifer Bellor, faculty member at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. Works by Schwantner, Husa and Milhaud will also be performed.
