Pianist and singer Bobby Short was a champion of American Popular Song and an institution among cabaret singers — he had a gig at the Carlyle in New York for over 35 years. Short accompanies his unforgettable voice as he and McPartland explore some of the lesser known chapters of the Great American Songbook, including "Shout 'Em Aunt Tillie" and Jimmy McHugh's "Where Are You."

On Wednesday's edition of Jazz New England we'll talk Russian Jazz.  Russian-born and Leominister-based pianist Eugene Maslov visits. We'll catch up with this 'old friend' and and also hear from Larry Applebaum,  Senior Music Reference Librarian and jazz specialist in the Music Division at the Library of Congress. Larry visited Russian this year to help the country establish a Jazz Archive. All things "Russian Jazz" Wednesday on Jazz New England at 2 pm.

Gerry Beaudoin

Guitarist Gerry Beaudoin returns to Jazz New England this Tuesday. In his long career he's recording with the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli and was a founding member of the  all-star guitar trio that included Duke Robillard and J. Geils.  Join us Tuesday at 2 pm when Gerry gets us up to date on his activities.
