Nine6teen Benefit Concert

Nine6teen is a Pomfret-based band featuring music that ranges from bluegrass to Badfinger and Van Morrison to James Taylor, plus original works. Led by keyboardist/vocalist Donna Bessette and drummer/vocalist Andre Bessette, the band also features David Carter on lead guitar, flute and vocals, Putnam native Greg Nichols on rhythm guitar and vocals, Brian Bastow on bass, and Patrick McCarthy on lead and backing vocals.

In December 1941, as American forces tallied the dead at Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt gathered with his senior military counselors to plan an ambitious counterstrike against the heart of the Japanese Empire: Tokyo. Four months later, on April 18, 1942, sixteen U.S. Army bombers under the command of daredevil pilot Jimmy Doolittle lifted off from the deck of the USS Hornet on a one-way mission to pummel the enemy’s factories, refineries, and dockyards and then escape to Free China.

DeadBeat is six pieces: drums, bass, keyboards, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and vocalist. It consists of seasoned musicians each with three plus decades of experience and with national and international gigging and recording credentials. We have a groovin'’ dance vibe with a rock edge and feature strong three-part vocal harmony and instrumental soloists. We perform the original music of the Grateful Dead and it’s family of bands, as well as music as covered by those groups.
