Girl Howdy (Rockabilly)

Girl Howdy is a 5-piece combo from Way Out West (Western Mass., that is) featuring veteran roots musicians Rose Sinclair on steel guitar, Paula Bradley on piano, Betsy-Dawn Williams on flat-top guitar, Brian Rost on upright bass, and Billy Nadeau on drums. Playing music from the classic honky-tonk era spanning the late 1940′s to the early 1960′s, Girl Howdy draws their material from such legends as Hank Williams, Kitty Wells, Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Ray Price, the Davis Sisters and Webb Pierce, as well as honky-tonk-inspired originals.

Pressure Cooker (reggae) CD release party!

Pressure Cooker is Boston’s original old-school reggae band. Formed in 1997, the band shared a passion for Jamaican ska, rocksteady, and reggae music of the ’60s and ’70s. Using these styles as a guide, Pressure Cooker created a uniquely Boston sound, reminiscent of the classics and distinguished by infectious rhythm and memorable songs. The all-star, horn-infused supergroup has been performing live for over a decade with lead singer Craig Akira Fujita.

Monophonics (psychedelic/funk)

Over the past seven years, Monophonics have staked their claim as one of California’s premier bands. Raised amid the Bay Area’s rich musical culture, Monophonics has proudly carried on the tradition of music native to their hometown, which flourished during the birth of psychedelia. Monophonics were formed in 2005; originally a instrumental ensemble comprised of guitarist Ian McDonald, bassist Myles O’Mahony, saxophonist Alex Baky, trumpeter Ryan Scott, and drummer Austin Bohlman, the band has recently added the dynamic soul vocals of keyboardist Kelly Finnigan.

Dave Scholl Tribute

Dave Scholl was a great tenor/baritone saxophone player. Playing for bands such as Barrence Whitfield and the Savages and Four Piece Suit, Dave wielded his sax throughout his life, charming others with his musical abilities. Though he has since passed, his legacy and his music will never be forgotten.

Fernando Huergo - Suite in Blue and White

Fernando's new album is out! "Suite en Celeste y Blanco" (Suite in blue and white) was recorded in Paris thanks to a grant from Chamber Music of America and FACE (French-American cultural exchange). The music is based on Argentinean folkloric styles and tango mixed with jazz.

Born in Cordoba, Argentina, Fernando has recorded over 100 albums, including 10 as a leader. He has also toured in North, Central and South America, as well as Europe and Asia.

Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman were family favorites. This is first experience in the broadcasting field and allows him to dig into his closet of old vinyls and share them with his audience on the Sunday afternoon edition of the Jazz Matinee.
