GEORGE WINSTON (Instrumental)

George Winston launched a new musical genre over 30 years ago with a recording of piano solos called Autumn. With a unique "folk piano" style blending traditional American folk music with New Orleans R&B, George’s hypnotic pieces suggest the play of color and light and the quiet melancholy and icy clarity of winter. Tectonic Fever

Tectonic Fever was inspired by the recordings of Sonny Sharrock-- rock guitar in a jazz setting. We cover a few of Sonny's compositions, but this is mainly an original project for which I write. TF is a rotating cast of characters and I am very fortunate to work this evening with some of Boston's finest improvisers:

Andrew Stern-- guitar
Jef Charland-- bass
Jim Hobbs-- sax
Luther Gray-- drums

Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman were family favorites. This is first experience in the broadcasting field and allows him to dig into his closet of old vinyls and share them with his audience on the Sunday afternoon edition of the Jazz Matinee.
