On one level, the sizable body of work accumulated by celebrated writer/artist Dar Williams is a continuing narrative of her life — what she’s experienced and what she’s observed during her years of intensive touring. On another, it forms a detailed look at the course of modern-day existence in the decade and a half between 1993, when Williams released her debut album, The Honesty Room, and 2008, when her longtime label Razor & Tie released her seventh and most recent studio album, Promised Land.
Bettye ripped up the Narrows last time through. Impassioned vocals writhing and prancing the stage like a panther. One of the best shows we have ever hosted. We are honored and estatic for her return performance. www.BettyeLaVette.com
A Narrows favorite. Funky, countrified, soulful and down right rocking aptly describe The Wood Brothers sound. They have recently added a drummer to flesh out their sound. They will be touring in support of their great CD, " Smoke Ring Halo". www.TheWoodBrothers.com

In the hallowed ranks of New Orleans "piano professors," Jon Cleary is on the tenure track. Born in England and bred in New Orleans, Jon Cleary is a triple threat combining soulful vocals, masterful piano skills, and a knack for composing infectious grooves with melodic hooks and sharp lyrics. He balances performing - solo on piano, with his new trio The Philthy Phew and noted funk band The Absolute Monster Gentlemen - alongside a longstanding career as a notorious hired gun with the likes of John Scofield and Eric Clapton.
It's been too long since electric blues guitar phenom Walter Trout played the Narrows! He's a former member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (along with Narrows alum Coco Montoya) but has been doing his own thing with his band for many years.
In music there are those special artists that seem to transcend genre and defy categorization. From time to time one hears a voice that can stop you dead in your tracks and shake your very foundation to the core. Mike Farris is that artist and he has that voice. In June of 2007 Farris released the critically acclaimed Salvation in Lights which married old time roots gospel sounds with his own unique arrangements that were mainly inspired by New Orleans, Stax and the blues.
The Bottle Rockets play first and then back Marshall on his tunes. Don't miss this rare pairing of two great acts. Over 25 years since breaking through to critical and commercial acclaim with his 1982 self-titled debut and its infectious, era-defining pop hit "Someday, Someway," Marshall Crenshaw creates an incredible new chapter in his career with his 429 Records debut “Jaggedland”. Crenshaw's first studio recording in more than six years is his most musically dynamic and lyrically intimate collection yet. www.MarshallCrenshaw.com
