Double Bill: Chelsea Berry – Ryan Tennis

Chelsea Berry is a singer/songwriter with incredible edge, power, and finesse. Her presence has been described by listeners as “compelling… she draws the entire house into her world like moths to a flame.” Her vocals are controlled, smooth, and intensely powerful. Her original lyrics are reminiscent of the folk music of the sixties.

Amalgamated Muck

Since playing shows together in Small Town Concert Series and joining musical forces, the melodic amalgamation of Lauren Agnelli with Matthew Male, Brian Wolfe, Rose Bengston and Rodney Maxwell has become more than just some pretty mucking about – they’re now officially Amalgamated Muck!

Best described musically as Americana Music – roots, country, and folk with rock & blues mixed in -­‐-­‐ Amalgamated Muck does it best, with great harmonies and spirited performances of their own original songs, as well as some very tasteful choices of cover material.

Noah Baerman & Friends

Jazz pianist, educator and Middletown resident Noah Baerman recently celebrated the release of his seventh album under his own name, “Turtle Steps.” For this performance he will be playing some new music with some old friends. Expect to hear some different sounds (slide guitar, anyone?) as well as tunes from Noah’s previous records.

Press Gang Band

A bold new sound has emerged in New England’s traditional music scene: The Press Gang fuses the talents of squeezebox player Christian “Junior” Stevens, fiddler Alden Robinson, and guitarist Owen Marshall into an energetic musical partnership. The trio blends their skill in traditional Irish music with their curiosity for other styles.

Sean Ashby with opening by Derek Knott

 Sean has played guitar for Sarah McLachlan at her peak for 12 years (40 million units sold!) - and at the Grammy awards twice – David Letterman 3 times / Tonight Show 4 times / SNL and many other great highlights. Sean went solo about 4 years ago.

His show is a singer songwriter / guitar nerd, alt country rock, bluesy rootsy music, country as well as some fun stuff like the odd surf guitar song (He plays the big Hollow body Gretsch guitars and a lot of slide on lap steel or Weisenbourn)

This Open Mic is for YOU – the budding artist. Showcase your talents, nurture them with this supportive group. Recite a poem, sing a song, dance, read some spoken word, the microphone is yours for the asking. Community spirit prevails.

We have congas and a piano or BYO instrument. Ends around 9:30 – 10.

Art Lillard’s Ontime Trio

Drummer Art Lillard leads this jazz trio, which also includes pianist Alan Rosenthal and bassist Ralph Hamperian. Art has over thirty years’ experience as a bandleader. He is known for his ability to “read” a room, responding sensitively to his audience.
The trio plays jazz standards, show tunes, swing tunes, bossa novas, and blues, as well as many of Art Lillard’s original and varied compositions. The band’s extensive repertoire includes the songs of Ellington, Wonder, Mancini, Rodgers, Lennon & McCartney, Mingus, and Jobim.
