“Concert at the Garden Series" - Spanish Music and Dance

A feast for the eyes and ears - listen to Spanish Classical Guitar with Thomas Rohde, and watch Flamenco dance with Eve Costarelli.

Thomas has performed throughout Brazil, Taiwan and the United States as a soloist. Eve is a familiar face on the Boston dance scene, and has performed and taught with the Ramon de los Reyes dance company.

The Garden, in collaboration with Indian Hill, brings talented musicians and dancers to perform in this monthly series.

Singer/Songwriter Carrie Newcomer

Indiana native Carrie Newcomer sings of the small joys and pains in life, emphasizing the little moments that are often taken for granted. Newcomer will perform at Tower Hill Botanic Garden on July 12 as part of the 5-Star Concert Series. Fellow songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter says of Newcomer, "I love Carrie Newcomer. She writes and sings about what is most personal to her and in doing so she speaks to the wider world. Her song 'Geodes' will make you catch your breath with its wisdom and beauty." Newcomer also takes on serious subjects, with a measure of humor and self-awareness.

Tower Hill Family Picnic and Concert with Carrie Rowan

Tower Hill Botanic Garden will hold its second annual Family Picnic on Sunday, July 15, from 10am-4pm. The Garden will waive the usual $7 admission fee for all children 12 and under. Non-member adults and seniors pay the regular admission fee of $12 and $9 respectively, but pay a discounted fee if they purchase their admission in advance at Members of the Garden, as always, are admitted free.

Richard Vacca

The author of The Boston Jazz Chronicles: Faces, Places and Nightlife 1937-1962, Richard Vacca, will be with Al Dean on The Sunday Jazz Matinee on July 8th. Richard is a Boston based technical writer, editor, amateur historian and regular presenter on the topic of Boston jazz and nightclubs. He spent 7 years researching and assembling these chronicles.

This will be an informative afternoon discussing the nightclubs and musicians of this time and we will be playing the music from the era from 1937-1962 from Dick's personal collection.

Devin Roth

West coast Canadian born pianist and composer, Devin Roth, has a passion for exploring new avenues of music across all genres. Having recently graduated with a Masters in Music in Jazz Composition from New England Conservatory in Boston, Devin loves composing and performing jazz, folk, bluegrass, classical, pop and rock.

Santina King

At 22, Warwick's Santina King is finding her own voice.

King, a graduate of Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School and now current student at University of Southern Maine in Portland, is moving in unique directions with her voice and guitar phrasing. This young singer-songwriter composes mostly on guitar - building her intricate and rich musical compositions from scratch.

Bobby Selvaggio

Bobby Selvaggio is one of the leading voices on alto sax in today's Jazz scene. In the words of two of todays main figures in Jazz: Kenny Werner - ".....Bobby is among the best of players out there...." and Joe Lovano - ".....Bobby is one of the few young saxophonists on the scene today that captures you with his strong presence, focus, and sound.......". Bobby plays alto and soprano sax, alto clarinet, flute, is a bandleader of multiple projects, composer and arranger, Jazz clinician, and Assistant Director of Jazz Studies at Kent State University.
