Americana group the AMY BLACK BAND is based in Boston, but is influenced by Black's roots in the south. Black and her band started off by performing covers by her influences, including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt.

THE HIRED MEN (Celtic/Bluegrass)

A Boston band put together by Peter O'Halloran (from Boston music staple the Dogmatics). The Hired Men have a more celtic/bluegrass feel and sound, differing slightly from their rock band counterpart the Dogmatics.

Whitney James

Vocalist Whitney James studied musical theatre and opera before committing to jazz, and her theatrical background has served her well. Her acclaimed 2010 debut album, The Nature of Love, revealed a fully formed voice on a confident set of beloved standards. With host Jon Weber as accompanist, James brings her rich, full alto tone to tunes including “Tenderly” and “If You Could See Me Now.”

On a remote beach in Western Australia it is possible to see living examples of some of the oldest life on the planet. These mounds of micro-organisms also lived two billion years ago and changed the atmosphere of Earth making it hospitable for the organic life we are familiar with. This is just one of the amazing journeys that RICHARD FORTEY made looking for examples of “living fossils” Fortey is the author of many books  and was the Senior Paleontologist at the Natural History Museum in London until his retirement in 2006.
