Iris Dement

One of the most celebrated country-folk performers of our day, singer/songwriter Iris Dement grew up singing gospel music During her teenaged years, however, she was first exposed to country, folk, and R&B, drawing influence from Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Joni Mitchell. Dement first began composing songs at the age of 25, honing her skills at open-mic nights while holding down numerous non-musical related jobs by day. She moved to Nashville in 1998, where producer Jim Rooney ultimately helped her land a record contract.

Ana Egge, Open: Tall Heights (Ballroom)

Saskatchewan-born, Brooklyn-based folk troubadour Ana Egge isn't your run-of-the-mill alternative-country singer. Using unique production and rock-based chord progressions, Egge has made a name for herself as a Gillian Welch figure with a rocker attitude, which once prompted Lucinda Williams to call her "the Nina Simone of folk."

JIMMY WEBB

The critical acclaim that composer Jimmy Webb has received during his more than forty years of success is remarkable. Webb is the only artist to ever receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration, he is a member of the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriter's Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and, according to BMI, his "By The Time I Get To Phoenix," has been the third most performed song in the last fifty years, with "Up, Up and Away" on the same list in the top thirty.

Don Schlitz "The Gambler"

Some people come to Nashville, catch a Don Schlitz show and marvel at their chance to meet the guy they've known for all these years. It is at his shows where he extends his monopoly. He's not only the only one writing Don Schlitz songs, he's the only one singing them from the inside out, and sharing the stories behind them. He's the only one illuminating the songs and the moment and in some ways an entire music city with a delivery that is hilarious, elliptical and heartfelt. And the delivery changes each night, just like the set list.
