In the 1970s photographers were shooting a billion Polaroid photographs each year yet today the company is essentially non-existent. What went wrong? Edwin Land, the founder of Polaroid was a legendary intellectual corporate leader that started out doing research in polarizing filters and ended up revolutionizing photography by creating a totally new technology of film development. As a company, Polaroid was also known for supporting artists like Ansel Adams.
