Inquiry: CAROLYN BURKE: No Regrets: The Life of EDITH PIAF

Program:
Date:
Thursday, April 7, 2011 - 12:29pm

Edith Piaf was one of the great singers and song interpreters of the twentieth century. Yet her life reads like a latter day version of Les Miserables. Described as a Gallic fusion of Billie Holiday and Judy Garland, my guest tonight describes her as more feral than that. She rose above an impoverished and violent childhood and survived the Nazi occupation of France to become a world renown sensation. Tonight, on Inquiry, we talk with teacher, writer and biographer CAROLYN BURKE about her wonderful new biography NO REGRETS: THE LIFE OF EDITH PIAF.
