MONSON, Professor of Music at Washington University in St. Louis is a self-confessed topo d’archivio, an archive mouse who spent countless hours deep in the Vatican Secret Archives Reading Room researching nun’s music in the sixteenth century. While buried in these long-forgotten records and tomes, he came across several fascinating stories of convent life that anything but typical, stories that have been long forgotten. Monson compiled these tales in his latest book entitled NUNS BEHAVING BADLY: TALES OF MUSIC, MAGIC, ART AND ARSON IN THE CONVENTS OF ITALY. Tune in tonight and hear the story of the young sisters who decided that the cloistered life was not for them so they burned down the convent.
