A cousin of Percy Sledge, Jimmy began in a gospel group and later had a big hit with "Steal Away." Recorded in one take, the song has been cited as "a prototype not only for subsequent soul singers such as Johnny Taylor and Al Green, but would help define the signature Muscle Shoals sound."
