Tonight we speak with STAN ULANSKI, Professor or Meteorology, Oceanography and Marine Resources in the Geology and Environmental Science Department. He has written a very entertaining and informative book on billfish: those large and fast fish that have the long pointy “swords”. The book is part natural history, part angling adventure and part cultural history. Tune in and learn all about how swordfish live, how sailfish can change color, and how Blue Marlin are most people’s favorite gamefish. We will also talk about how two famous American fiction writers, Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey, wrote about the thrill of fishing for billfish. Professor Ulanski’s book is titled: THE BILLFISH STORY: SWORDFISH, SAILFISH, MARLIN AND OTHER GLADIATORS OF THE SEA.
Nick DiBiasio’s passion for music began on the evening of Sunday, February 9, 1964, when The Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. Against The Grain features Americana music by many local and international artists.
Tune in to the Against The Grain, Wednesday nights from 7-11pm
