The Tom Nutile Big Band goes back to 1946, when Roy Nutile, Tom’s father, formed the Roy Nutile Band. Tom began playing the clarinet in the 4th grade, and later learned from his father how to run a big band and took over the leadership of his father’s in 2006, which became the Tom Nutile Band. It has amassed over 700 arrangements and is a 15 piece big band that plays a wide variety of swing, Latin dance, jazz and pop throughout New England.
Al grew up listening to the music of the 40’s on his father’s EH Scott radio and 78 records. Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman were family favorites. This is first experience in the broadcasting field and allows him to dig into his closet of old vinyls and share them with his audience on the Sunday afternoon edition of the Jazz Matinee.
