The phrase "Living Legend" is often bandied about - but there aren't many who get that designation from the Library of Congress. The late Bobby Short was but one of his many accomplishments. A staple of Manhattan's nightlife behind the piano of the Carlyle Club for over 35 years, he used to celebrate the "Great American Song".
