WILLIAM L. BIRD, JR., Curator at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution returns to Inquiry to talk about his catalog for the exhibition PAINT BY NUMBER: THE HOW TO CRAZE THAT SWEPT THE NATION. The hobby kits that were Paint By Number were immensely popular in America of the 1950s, but they became a flashpoint in heated arguments about what constitutes art and high and low culture. Berklee's mission is to educate, train, and develop students to excel in music as a career.

Developing the musicianship of all our students is the foundation of our curriculum. We believe that the lessons and qualities derived from that work—the self-discipline needed for excellence, the empathy required of music making and the openness and curiosity essential to creativity—are critical to achievement in any pursuit, musical or otherwise.
